Civil Procedure hasn't changed much through the years -- an older version of this will be perfectly adequate.

I recommend that students start reading Evan Thomas’ The Man to See, or any other text on the required or optional list that particularly interests them, before the semester starts, if they have time.  This course requires a fair volume of reading, and students may be well advised to start reading early to anticipate and balance their schedules later in the semester.
