Application Requirements
In order to ensure a smooth experience in the application process, please follow the list below. Call or email our admissions office with any questions that arise while you are preparing your CharlotteLaw application.
The following items are required in order to have a complete application on file and eligible for review:
- A completed and signed application
- An official Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score taken within 5 years of the application date
- An official Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) report containing official transcripts for all college work
- 2 letters of recommendation- MUST be submitted with CAS (LSDAS) Report and may NO longer be mailed directly to the school. LSAC will not send us your report until you assign at least 2 letters to us. Please note if you submit more than 2 letters there is no guarantee that the committee members will read additional letters.

- Applicants are asked to submit a personal statement presenting themselves, their professional goals, and their qualifications. Achievements or qualities not otherwise revealed in this application may be included. Personal statements should be 1-3 pages in length (double-spaced, no less than 10-point font. Maximum length of entire personal statement 3 pages):
- Reasons for wanting to attend law school
- Unique characteristics about yourself
- Challenges you have faced
- Information you feel is important for the admission committee to make an informed decision on your admission
- A $50.00 application fee for paper applications (unless waived by school official) or apply online free (first time applicants only; thereafter $50 application fee applies)
- A detailed written explanation of any Legal Record (Law Violations, Pending Charges, Disciplinary Action), including dates and lessons learned from the experience(s).
- *TOEFL Score is required if:
- English is not your first language,
- You were foreign educated,
- You did not earn a bachelors or advanced degree from a US, accredited institution.
The following items are optional, but are strongly suggested in order to get a complete picture of your potential:
- A resume
- An addendum explaining any gaps in the application or history of taking standardized tests.
Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS): You can register for the LSAT and LSDAS, plus learn about preparing for the LSAT at the Law School Admission Council website: www.lsac.org. The CharlotteLaw code is 5499.
Important Note: Applicants should retain copies of their law school applications, since many state boards of law examiners request copies of law school applications, and all materials submitted in support of a Charlotte School of Law application become the property of the law school.
