Withdrawal & Refunds

Withdrawals

A student considering withdrawing from Charlotte School of Law should first consult with the Associate Dean for Student Services. A student’s academic status—Good Standing, on Academic Probation, or Academically dismissed—will not be changed because the student decides to withdraw from the Charlotte School of Law.

To withdraw from the Charlotte School of Law prior to the term, a student must submit a letter requesting a leave of absence or withdrawal from Charlotte School of Law to the Associate Dean for Students. After classes have started, a student wishing to withdraw from all classes must submit a completed official withdrawal form to the Registrar’s Office. A withdrawal becomes official on the date that the Registrar receives a completed withdrawal form. The student must also satisfy or make arrangements to satisfy all obligations owed to Charlotte School of Law (including return of library materials) prior to the request being granted.

Refund Policy

A student who decides to withdraw before the start of the semester should notify the Registrar’s Office immediately. An application or enrollment agreement may be cancelled within three calendar days after the date of signing, provided Charlotte School of Law is notified of the cancellation in writing. Only money applied toward tuition and fees is refundable; seat deposits and merit and/or need-based scholarship/grants are non-refundable. Refunds shall be made no later than thirty days after Charlotte School of Law receives written notice of cancellation. Refund money will be returned in the form of a check.

The following schedule applies to student(s) who withdraw after the three day cancellation period:

  1. If a student withdraws before the start of classes, the institution shall provide a full refund of the tuition and fee charges.
  2. If a student withdraws during the first week of the semester, the institution shall refund 90% of the tuition and fee charges.
  3. If a student withdraws during the second week of the semester, the institution shall refund 80% of the tuition and fee charges.
  4. If a student withdraws during the third week of the semester, the institution shall refund 70% of the tuition and fee charges.
  5. If a student withdraws during the fourth week of the semester, the institution shall refund 60% of the tuition and fee charges.
  6. If a student withdraws during the fifth week of the semester, the student will not be refunded any of the tuition and fee charges.

The last day of class attendance is used for purposes of calculating the percentage of completion.  The percentage of the enrollment period completed is based upon the number of credit hours completed. If a student has not been in attendance for 30 calendar days, the student will be deemed to have withdrawn.
