CharlotteLaw promotes academic scholarship and contributes to the community through its hosting of importance conferences and programs on legal issues in society. Charlotte School of Law sees its role in the community as that of a facilitator and a venue where groups can gather to discuss important societal issues. Upcoming programs will be listed here, as well as on the front page of the website.
• October 24-25, 2008. Marva Collins, a world-famous teacher and author who created highly successful schools for young inner-city, at-risk children, visited Charlotte School of Law on to speak to the students, staff, and faculty. Area educators were invited to attend a free seminar by Ms. Collins. Her topic “Every Child can be a Real Achiever.”
• March 21, 2008, the Charlotte Law Review, the Charlotte School of Law, and the Mecklenburg County Bar hosted a Symposium on ethics and professional conduct to mark the Centennial Anniversary of the American Bar Association Canons of Professional Conduct. Out of this event, the Charlotte Law Review will publish its first symposium journal in October 2008. The symposium edition will provide further discussion on various legal/ethical issues. • October 2006 CharlotteLaw hosted the conference on ‘Mental Health and the Death Penalty’ which brought to Charlotte several nationally renowned speakers to address an audience of attorneys, mental health professionals, government agencies, judges, policy makers and members of the Faith community and general community.
